I have to fly to Almeria, Spain in the new year and having recently done it from manchester to London to madrid to Almeria I then flew home direct with Norwegian Air as I couldnt be arsed with all connections.
Norwegian do not fly the day I am going back and work dont usually use budget airlines but I noticed Jet2 and Monarch have direct flights to Almeria or Malaga. 1 hour drive or 3 hour drive to destination respectively once landed. Does anyone have experience of either and which is better

For a flight as short distance as that. It doesn't really matter surely. You pay your money and you sit on a plane what ever the flavour.

Very true and I thought much the same after norwegian airlines flight, 3 hours asleep and pretty much same as every other flight I take just no food. Monarch it is :okay:

Have used both.Jet2 fly from East Mids Monarch from Birmingham.
Use East Mids as only 30 minutes away. Not much to chose between them.

I would chose the one with the one hour drive.

We have used Jet 2 loads of times and for a 2-3 hour flight they are perfectly acceptable.

It was many years ago and things might have changed now, but I flew Monarch to Corfu and the spacing between the rows of seats then was ludicrous. I am not super tall, but I could barely fit in. (And before some wit says it - the problem was my medium length legs not my waist size!)
Why would anyone choose a flight that gave them three hours driving time to destination compared to one hour? You'd spend longer driving than you would flying.
For a few reasons really...
Firstly the 1 hour drive flight means leaving my house at 2:30am new years day as opposed to much later for a malaga landing.
The drive from Malaga is a straight drive and since I have a 13 hour day shift the following day I prefer not to be up at stupid o clock for flights and will take a drive over the early start
Lastly monarch do not take my company card so I wont be using my cash to pay thus its a Jet2 flight

We flew Jet2 this summer, generous luggage allowance and no problems encountered.
Flown Monarch a few times, not memorable either way, bad or good...just ok, similar to most I suspect.

The only airline I used to enjoy flying was Cyprus Airways...thoroughly good service although they were always scheduled flights not chartered.
