Monopoly: Casual player or megalomaniac?

Just about to sit down with the family for a game of Monopoly, but I've been warned to take it easy or I'll get chucked out of the game.

I simply can't help buying property, wheeling and dealing, and building hotels. There's just something about it that gets me and turns me into a hotel building demon!

What sort of Monopoly player are you?

I prefer board games like Frustration.
Monopoly bores me and the last time the kids (I say kids, they are all teens) wanted me to play I lasted 15 mins before I'd had enough.
I suppose maybe with adults and some alcohol it may be better....

I'm not particularly competitive at anything. Anything other than Monoploy that is. Start me playing and I turn into a money grabbing, property hoarding fiend within minutes.

My wife will not play Monoploy with me (mainly because I always win)

My kids have the electronic version and the newer "brands" one which is ruthless. That's a right meanie game. It's the Empires version, just checked with kids.

We also have the classic version.

Monopoly used to bore me but we got it for the xbox 360 and its a great family game.

Not a fan of the 'roll and move' games. Modern euro games are way better.

Iron for me too... it's easier than arguing over the Top Hat, Racing Car, etc...

Had to stop playing it though... the various 'house rules' people conjure did my nut in... Whaddaya mean i can't claim rent whilst in jail???? Whaddaya mean 'that's just the way we play it' ??? GGGRRRR I'm still bitter!

i think some people make it up as they go along. I am the only one it seems who abides by the rules it seems
