Nothing beats a good game of Risk to bring a family reunion to an abrupt close.
I do recall particular triumph playing Risk. We'd got down to three players, me and a
rival with nearly half the board and soldiers each, plus an almost-dead player who had two tiny enclaves holding on at opposite ends of the board, but most importantly, holding a stash of Risk cards, which would go to any conqueror giving a huge load of reinforcements. (the value of the cards escalates greatly as the game goes on) Thus it was stalemate as neither I nor my rival could take the nearby enclave without the enemy taking the other and swooping all the risk cards. Hilariously my rival had forgotten or not-noticed the strategic position, conquered the near enclave and was about to reach for the cards when I reminder him of the other hold-out deep within my own territory. On my turn I easily over-ran it and picked up enough cards giving me the massive reinforcements so I could sweep through most of my rival's empire, hoovered up the now helpless rump a couple of goes later.
