Audi's. Not just stereotyping, I make a mental tally of those I see driving like Roger Ramjet on acid and a hugely disproportionate number drive Audi's
Ere, i used to drive an Audi.

Did admitedly end up crashing it into a police car.

I mostly cycle in London - I think it's getting better and drivers very often do the decent thing, holding back to let me make a right turn or whatever. And you can't predict what these folks are driving. Stereotypes don't hold.

I am surprised you don't know what riding defensivly is

For my part i do not know what a traffic droid or imitators are.

Agressive cyclists ride on and off footpaths at will, ignore traffic lights, zebra crossings and stop signs. They blast through pedestrian precincts. They ride without lights at night.
Round here they speed 20mph + on a downhill buslane by the side of standing traffic then wonder why the have to break suddenly to miss a pedestrian crossing the road (happens alot some nasty injuries.

I am a cyclist but i do not blindly believe all cyclist are automatically blameless even though they almost always come off worse in any rtc.
Knob heads on bikes are a pain.
Nobody is suggesting they don't exist.
Knob heads in cars kill and maim people on a regular basis.
Bit of a difference.

ODV i agree with you !!!!
So we have to take resposablity for our own saftey, this what i am saying. yes there are dangerous drivers out there and it is up to us to avoid antagonising them and being hit by them becase we will always come off second best.
i know we have the right to use the road but there are idiots out there and it is best to not have an RTC in the first place by always being super carfull

More often than not if I'm holding a motorist up I will always put hand up to say thank you just before they begin to overtake. I usually get a wave back or a flash of there hazard lights to say no problem. It usually defuses a situation of upsetting them by saying thank you for being patient.

like you i give way more often than not. if i'm on a country road and know i am holding trffic up or if i hear an Artic, tractor or any heavy vehicle coming up behind i will pull off as soon as posible and wave them by.
the drivers nearly always signal one way or another a thank you.

Never had much on the way of problems on the roads. I doubt any political happenings have any effecr in drivers being idiots. A lot of drivers are dangerous and they always will be.

Some people driving vehicles hate you for just riding a bike on the road. It doesn't matter if you give way or smile and wave, they hate you. That's the problem.

That's almost like playing the racist card.

No one hates for you for choosing to cycle just like you don't hate them for driving cars.

Don't confuse unpleasant individuals with regular people. Be non confortational and occasionally give way even when you don't have to.
This has always worked for me.

I know what I call riding defensively. That ain't it. That site's collection of bad advice on riding as near as possible to the edge of the lane is an excellent way to get yourself doored, swiped or hooked.

For my part i do not know what a traffic droid or imitators are.
Just search this site or YouTube for traffic droid. You won't enjoy it.

 most of the njmotys doing those things around here seem more dopey than aggressive!

Round here they speed 20mph + on a downhill buslane by the side of standing traffic then wonder why the have to break suddenly to miss a pedestrian crossing the road (happens alot some nasty injuries.
And yet none of the alot show up on the collision statistics map?

I am a cyclist but i do not blindly believe all cyclist are automatically blameless even though they almost always come off worse in any rtc.
I don't believe they're automatically blameless but I also don't believe that many do anything to provoke the RTC or that any provocation justifies hitting someone with a motor vehicle.

Please tell us how you would describe riding defensivly.
Also you have said you have had a recent RTC.
How many others have you had? I am guessing more than one because you now feel you have to
use a camera to record these incidents.
Yet i commute in a busy city every day and never have any problems, i wear regular clothes don't have hi_viz or a plastic hat.
I just ride defensivly and take care.
I'll leave it at that, i am sure we will never agree.

A fantasy. There is no way you can cycle to repel cars, short of a BFG. All you can do is not get too close to them and ride where you're most likely to be seen: primary position aka take the lane, when needed.

You guess wrong. I got the camera after a road rage attack which police wouldn't follow up due to no witnesses.

I'm also in regular clothes and in a pretty good area for cycling and cyclists but there are still occasional nobbers. They just hate anyone cycling, I think.

Never have any problems? Unless you're 100% on something like the MK redways (which is a rare trip even in MK), I doubt it.

The part of your post I underlined is wrong. There are some drivers who hate cyclists on sight. As for your "racist" comment: how on earth did you draw that conclusion?

Seems much as always to me, but if it is worse it will be Corbyn's fault - missile subs with no nukes and police with crochet'd truncheon covers doesn't give anyone one incentive to behave.

Mmmh I hear our PM doesn't want to pay the euro bill. This gives me incentive too but I think that won't go down too well.

Side topic: how does she get away with not wanting to pay the bill?

Back on topic: can't say I've noticed anything different on the roads.
