I blame the post office for delivering it...I deserve an apology ;)
No, if it hadn't been put in the post, the Post Office wouldn't have had anything to deliver to you.
Blame whoever put them in the post.

Shouldn't a large corporation actually have checks ;) in place within their finance system to stop this happening? Surely someone in some sort of authority had to actually authorise the cheques being sent regardless of the amount
You'd think so, but clearly its a complex business.
I had an expected payment into my bank from one of the utility suppliers. Several weeks later, i had another, without any explanation.
Keep or return ?
The right thing to do is return, or at least enquire.
The reality is, its a major corparation, one of several we are told are ripping us all off over and over and over. It MAY have been a correct payment i was due but wasnt aware, it MAY have been a mistake. I banked it with the thought that IF they come back querying it, they can have it back, if they dont...meh.
I didnt get rich, they didnt go bust. 2 years later, several bills from them later, they've never raised it.

Now, its not morally right to do that...but i can sleep at night.
But, if it were an individuals money, lets say £50 you found on a bus, in a purse....that kind of thing, every attempt would be made to return it. I couldnt keep that and feel ok about it.
