More mobile research

[Crackle]

Last week Mr Summerdays saw a driver on the phone and stared hard at him ... it had some effect ... 3 seconds later the driver was seen clutching a bobble hat to his ear - not quite the effect he was hoping for.

I did that the other day to a woman in a Picasso, just after it was all in the news about the increase in offences and result, she hurriedly put the phone down.

I have never understood whats so wrong about it?

in what way is it SO distracting that it needs to be made illegal?





while clumsing about with a cigarette lighter and lighting a cigarette and then smoking it with one hand while getting A DRUG into the drivers system is apparently OK.

I shake my head in disbelief.

one fear i've been told is that drivers would get REALLY distracted if they dropped their mobile.

what? MORE distracted than if they dropped a lit fag in their lap/on their leg?

The transport research laboratory has carried out research that does show that verbal geographically displaced conversations do distract people. Not only hands phones but hands free too. Funnily enough similar behaviours are witnessed in pedestrians whilst on the phone.
