I didn't really see anything wrong with the first overtake, I think the guy just took you a bit by surprise although it was a little bit close withe car coming the other way.
edit: That junction is very open in terms of observation.

To be honest I thought the same.

I'd overtaken the guy on the road leading up to the junction. he was going considerably slower than me. So as I turn right (clearly indicated) he squeezed down my right side to get in front of me, despite the fact that I was faster. It also meant that he cut it close with the oncoming car.

Anyway as you can hear in the video, I do make a comment, but I'm not to bothered and say 'never mind'. I wouldn't have posted that on it's own. It is the maneuver in the tunnel that was pretty bad. Cyclists come down there at speed, and if one had appeared there, someone, possibly me, would have got hurt. I've heard of some nasty accidents down there, especially when people come into contact with the barrier.

Just to add...

You are right, that junction is very open for observation. However, there have been a lot of accidents there. Cars come along that road fast (well above 30mph) and it can be difficult to get out of the junction. Folk try and squeeze out and often get caught out, despite the fact that it has been improved recently. Not really related to what happened, though...

In fact I wonder if I caught the cyclist out. he might have expected me to head towards the gutter, when I didn't he ended up cutting it fine with the oncoming car. That makes sense now I think of it.

Yeah, only the tunnel overtake was dodgy. Looks like an ego run-in, really. He must have taken exception to you overtaking him.

That thought did cross my mind. Anyway, if I tried, I could have taken him!xx(

I should add, he was behind me when I started to turn right.

That tunnel looks like a nightmare vision of the apocalypse.

What is worth avoiding above-ground that makes it worthwhile to go down there? (If it's a large body of water I can semi-understand.)

The River Clyde. I could add a few miles to my commute to avoid it, but I actually quite like it. It's fast down (where you can see far ahead) and a good workout on the way up. I've never really had any major problems down there.

I think I asked you a similar question a time ago.... I don't know, looks like prime mugging territory down there!

thought both were sort of ok really, based on the vids, granted a bit pushy

that tunnel is ludicrous, I'd have thought it wouldn;t be hard to keep someone behind you i you wanted to, he'd have had a much better view around the bend than you I'd had thought

I an only ask you to trust me, he could not see around that corner until just after he had past me. You have tobe careful passing someone on the straights in the tunnel (not much space) so to overtake on a curve is just being an idiot, especially as the tunnel is two way at the moment.

FWIW I think the guy in the first vid cut it a little fine to go across you and avoid the car coming from the opposite direction. The second one is difficult - he might have had a view around the corner slightly before you because he was on the right, but no way am I calling that based just on the vid.

The common thread for both vids is that they both showed the same impatience that we're so fond of throwing at our other companions in road use. Why, if you've just been overtaken by someone, would you pull a manoeuvre that's going to get yourself two yards in front, only to be overtaken again? Why not just let the guy go? Same for the tunnel. Wait a second, make sure the guy in front knows you're there and you want to get past and then give a little thanks when you do. Why not?

Neither video is that bad, but what reflects badly is the attitude of the cyclists just as much as their bike skills.
