I have no idea how much it cost as it was my parents who picked up the bill for it but when I was about 6, one Christmas morning with my lovely selection box, I bit into a Curly Wurly and half pulled out one of my teeth. It was seriously painful but no dentists were available on a Christmas morning. I was in agony for several days until my Mum could arrange a dentist appointment, by which time an abscess behind the tooth had developed so I also needed to have it lanced, antibiotics and a few visits to dentists before it was finally fixed.
Curly Wurlys (Wurlies?) are one of the few items of confectionery that I refuse to eat to this day. Horrible things should come with a government health warning.
