Most miles in a day

The most I've done in one go is 185miles but 3/4 or more of that was in good company on the Dumb Run (overnight from Dumbarton to St Andrews); the most I've done on my own is 150 I think, Dunfermline-Edinburgh-Berwick on Tweed & back.

130 miles in the le tappe about 13 years ago. I've raced quite a few 100s. To be honest the thought of doing really long rides just doesn't interest me any more. I would sooner just go out for a few hours.

170 miles on the fixed, 200 on the normal bike. Both solo trundles round the Dales and the Vale of York and <cough> a year or two ago.
I did a solo unsupported Marmotte once, which IIRC is only 115 miles but with a devil of a lot of climbing. And my all time favourite ride, a solo 120 mile circumference of Gran Canaria - stunning scenery, sustained climbs and really great cycling.

Hats off to all you long distance maniacs, including Tommy Godwin. I seriously need a target for personal achievment this year, and I think you all have just inspired me to make it a long distance ride. At the moment I can only estimate about 35 miles as a daily max........Plenty room for improvement. I figure to build upover the coming summer months. Any tips or advice would be most welcome. N.B. I am only a recreational cyclist that loves to fettle as well as ride.

67 for me and I've done a couple of other low 60's plus the 55 mile Cat & Fiddle Challenge, but I've got a 100 mile charity ride planned for this August, (see sig). So that will bust my 100 mile cherry

A bit bonkers this, but a few years ago I rode a 400km audax from Ampthill near Bedford, then cycled home after having a quick pint to the other side of Cambridge, nearly 500km in 21 hours. No great shakes speed wise but I ate and slept for England after that one.

I have occasionally wondered if it is possible to cycle from my home just outside Horsham to my dads home in Salford in one day. Google maps claims it is about 215 miles.

I'd recommend setting small goals rather than tying to bite off too much in on go and keep focusing on ensuring the bike is as comfy as possible as you go further and further. Also picking somewhere to aim for and having a reason to go there helps because once you're there, you've got to come home!

which doesn't beat 205, but do I get points for two double centuries 17 years apart?

150 twice. No, not 300! At the right pace they weren't that difficult at the time. I've done harder, shorter, loaded rides.
