I really can't get over how sloppily this is argued. This man is a successful lawyer and yet he completely undermines his own case by admitting that the harm done by cyclists is comparatively minuscule. One is left with the conclusion that he is not actually interested in safety, he is just annoyed by cyclists.. I see from a web search that the same article has appeared in the Daily Express. So, I could buy this rubbish much cheaper than my pricey subscription to the Times.

I guess he's calling for no sunglasses in cars either or hats, scarves or hoodies.. All make it very difficult to identify drivers.

Thankfully though, no drivers have ever left the scene of an accident.

..and before we get the 'cars have registrations', please note how many 'it wasn't me driving' or fake plate cases.

It's often suggested - although actual figures don't exist - that pedestrians kill more cyclists and motorcyclists than the other way around. Why isn't Nick "I smugly know more than anyone because I drive 5000000000 miles a year" Freemason suggesting equivalent regulations for them? It's actually quite plausible, as the anti-jaywalking laws in the US ably demonstrate.

Can just see it now someone hell bent on making a clean get away on a bike. Doing a shady deal down a back street for a cloned "numbered tabard"
I think the whole tabard idea is astonishingly risible.
"Officer, my tabard has been stolen."
"We stopped the cyclist as his tabard was so covered in mud, we couldn't read all nine numbers."
"I am sorry officer, I picked up my wife's tabard by mistake."
"Is this your tabard, sir?"
"Of course I am not wearing a tabard - this is a naked cycle ride."
"The defendant had his tabard on inside-out, your honour."
"An oil stain made the zero on his tabard look like an eight, so we arrested him."
"Snotshire is proud to announce the introduction of automatic tabard number recognition technology."

- expect you'll be able to get 'race fit' ones, and maybe club or even team colours!

Look's like we are going to have a few depending on what sort of ride we are going. ^_^ The everyday one's better come in colours that match the bike after all we have our image to think about :becool:

The guy destroys his own argument, bikes are a tiny minority of incidents, I would like to see stats for uninsured unregistered motor scooters.

I have had this argument at work so many times.

I insure my bikes, I don’t need to pay emissions duty like electric cars.

I told them in fact as I run two cars, and my bikes I have more rights to use the road as I pay more VAT aka taxes through services parts, maintenance.
