Motor Racing on British Roads - we can blame it on the TdF

I would like to see more onshore Island of man TT road sport.
I know I would go to watch it.
There's a few roads up in North Yorkshire, that are almost that anyway

Eg; the B1257 from Helmsley, up to Stokesley, via Chop Gate, Bilsdale & passing The Lion Inn

Don't forget that Olivers Mount, at Scarbrough, is still the UKs only road-racing circuit

We're a long way from seeing any top class motor racing on public roads, the cost and inconvenience of making a circuit safe enough for F1 cars would be absolutely enormous. The TT and other on road bike races only survive through long standing tradition, their respective death rates compared to circuit racing would be unacceptable in any new event.

This wouldn't really help motorsport in built up area due to the costs involved of making areas safe.
However this would be great news for grassroots motorsport such as rallies & hill climbs. I'm all for it. Also hope it would mean more bicycle events can take place on closed roads.
