Footage shows car using path to overtake cyclists

A cycling club has released footage of what appears to be a car using a grass verge and path to overtake its riders.
Ely Cycling Club, in Cambridgeshire, says the incident happened between Rampton and Cottenham during a ride on Saturday.
One cyclist said the driver of the car shouted "if you are cycling on the road then I'll drive on the path" as he passed the group.
Cambridgeshire Police says it is aware of the footage.

I once came face to face with a car driving up here. He'd come from where the white van is parked in the picture.
He was towing a trailer and I figure he thought it was easier to drive up a path and onto the road than to turn around with the trailer on.

It was before the cyclepath was tidied up and I'm not sure if there was space for him to get between the two barriers then, he might have had to drive round them.

The path was part of NCN1 in those days.

EDIT: I found this picture of what the path looked like in those days

I would expect a nice easy 6 pr more points for careless with good evidence of that nature.

I expect the beak would have take a dim view of the deliberete and premeditated mature of the behaviour that the drivers comment evidences, would have ratcheted the fine up a notch to reflect that.

BITD I was out for a jog and came adross one driving along the Redway in MK. Turns out he was a council engineer inspecting the street lights and decided it'd be so much easier to drive along the cyling infrastructure in his car. I didnt have my warrant card (no pockets) so simply refused to move. He kicked up a fuss and tried to give it the Phil Mitchell's, but it wasnt very convincing as he was a foot shorter than me. In the end someone called the dibble and he got "roadside" reported for careless and no insurance.

Carbon fibre... LMAO!!!
I once saw some idiot driving along the footpath to get past the traffic leading to Barton Bridge in Manchester.
Caught up with him at the lights and asked what the hell he was playing at.
"Who are you? The police!" was his answer before winding his window back up.
Some people just don't give a s*#&.
