Mercedes' dumb strategy made then look foolish and then Russel decides to top the teams stupidity and got the penalty he deserved.

If you don't like it then don't watch . I can't see the point of spending your time doing something you won't enjoy just to moan about it afterwards .

What a short sighted and unnecessary post.

I watched hoping that the mandatory two pit stops would mix things up but team tactics neutralised that turning it into another tedious race.

I enjoyed the race but I always do . It's usually won by great driving , great strategies and the odd random happening.
Lets face it 2 stops was never going to lead to on track overtakes.

It clearly needs tweaking at the very least

the possible problems were obvious

I love the race - but they do need to try something to force more overtakes
I have no clue what and have never come up with one in the last 50 years of watching - during which time it has got worse!

There was a plea for ideas on how to fix it. With the cars and the track the way it is it can’t be fixed, but to avoid the farce of last year (and other races which have been impacted this way), they should prevent tyre changes in red flag periods. The car should go back out the way it came in, save for fixing any damage.

Even if they had tyre damage from whatever caused the red flag ? And if so how much damage would warrent a 'free' tyre change ?

Complicated outcome from a simple idea.

One thing they can do for this, and any other track, is limit the radio traffic between the driver and the team to be calls to pit, news of any penalties and any safety critical aspects. Too many tactical calls made over the radio today.

You mean make it so he driver just has to drive faster than the car in front until he gets behind them
and then try to pass them

and see how it all plays out in the end???
(except for safety and orders from the FIA etc )

what a silly idea!!!

Why did Max take the risk of taking the final pit stop where it could go wrong sticky wheel etc when the penalty for not stopping was plus 30 secs and he had that time in hand to Lewis ? . Some quite cynical driving tactics by the lower teams within the rules to get free pit stops but they were risking collisions from the rear if their braking early

Martin explained that the 30 second penalty was if the race was red flagged and not restarted and anyone had not yet taken their pitstops. The penalty for failure to stop in a completed race is disqualification.
