That 1966 film Grand Prix was the best motor racing film ever made and Garner was quite a talented driver by all accounts. I will not be wasting my time and money going to to see Brad the Pitts offering of the usual hollywood shyte in June

Grand Prix was the pinnacle. Everything else since then has been a bit crap.

Remember Driven, thst awful racing film with Sly Stallone? The plot was "troubled old sweat brought out of retirement to mentor impetuous new rookie driver."

Well, that's exactly the plot they used for the new F1 film. Doesn't bode well.

I thought Rush was quite good.

Rush, like Ford vs Ferrari, are good stories but suffer from wholly unrealistic driving sequences. Sequences where drivers can eyeball each other then decide to go faster by applying more throttle or changing gear again. Or just weave through compliant traffic.

I’m hoping the new F1 film might overcome this but early reports are not favourable. For example, in almost every race the drivers wear dark visors meaning you can’t see their faces, but from what I have seen Brad Pitt is easily seen in his movie helmet and visor.

F1 seems liable to be a visual spectacle, but probably lacking in substance. As good an actor as this Arm Pit bloke is he can't carry it on his own. The redycled plot alone gives me grave cause for concern.

maybe allow the shortcut but if you do it then you have a 5 second penalty at your next pit stop
and you HAVE to have a next pit stop
that would mean you can do it - but it is only worth it if you are faster enough to make up the extra time

plus you need the extra pit stop so you can;t do it too close to the end of the race

it would be complicated tactics wise
but it would add some extra dimensions

Said it before, but get rid of the blue flags.

That give too much possibility of teams helping and screwing up other teams they like or dislike

although I do dislike them
they do seems to be necessary

In their current role, get out of the way, they have drivers getting penalties for not being able to whilst staying safe.
Anyone coming up on a slower car would have to overtake, as they did before. Not expect the car in front to simply move out of the way. It'd be the same position as a current pitstop, which drops the driver into slower traffic, but who are in front of them on the track. Faster car comes out in fifth place having pitted from first. The only way past is to overtake.

Blue flags are only used when the faster vehicle is lapping the slower one. When it is for position, there is no requirement for a slower car to get out of the way, and no blue flags are shown.

In most motorsports the blue flag are only advisory . Mandatory blues are yet another rule change to 'improve the show'

Vestappen and Russell's post race interviews , in the pen , both show how ridiculous the drivers find those.

At one stage they were only to advise the driver of a faster car and driver approaching from behind. Not three blues and you've to move out of the way, as it is now.

Don't move/can't move out of the way and it's a penalty. If you can't move out of the way, safely, why should you be penalised?

For Monaco (but not ruling out other races) drivers have to run to their cars and start them when the red lights go out. They then have to do their own pit stops. I'd also make it a two way track. After 3 laps, they have to do 3 laps in the other direction. And so on.
