Although people forget that holier than thou Damon Hill did it to Schumacher at the 1995 Britsh Grand Prix. I think he may also have done so at Spa that year but id have to check that. Many of them have had their moments over the decades.

he didn't deliberately drive into Schumacher. He tried a lunge (far too late) then locked up his brakes which took him into Schumacher and took both of them off the course.

A great talent, but a petulant twit when it suits him.

And Norris is wasting no time giving the media his opinion. You'd think in his position he'd spend every iota of attention and effort on his biggest problem, and not divert precious mental resources on matters that don't affect him.

Petulance is never a good look.

One of Norris' problems is that Norris is softer then Piastri in the head. I also think that Max will happily lean in on Norris knowing he'll get out of it, whereas he will give Piastri a wider berth.

Hamilton looked embarrassed in post race interview , Leclerc is mopping the floor with him fairly constantly now and he looks as disillusioned as ever I've seen him . Hulk put in superb drive , hats off to him . He never , in all his years got a seat in a front running car. I would love to see him get at least one podium before he retires to the fadderland , but its unlikely now sadly

One of Hamilton's flaws is that when he's glum, down and the world is a tough place he struggles, when all is going well and he feels loved and happy and has a metaphorical arm around him and is getting his oats he performs at his best.

I think Toto for all his faults understood that and built a team around Hamilton to give him that feeling... probably after he split up with shirtswinger and his performance nosedived. I'm not saying toto gave him his oats, but at least put out a bucket of provin and some hay.

I don't think Ferrari have that level of emotional capacity, Charles is a great quick driver, but I'm not sure he is as complete and he bins it all to often when it really matters

The option wasn't there, but I think Lewis would have done better with Zac back at McL

One thing about Verstoppem, he doesn't make lame excuses.

In response to media queries about the incident with Russell he responded, "bring some tissues." At least he sticks by his actions, even if they are unsportsmanlike and dangerous, whereas others would just wriggle and squirm and trot out some weakly implausible excuse.

Full punishment now in. Verstappen given 3 penalty points on his license bringing him to 11. One more point in June gets him a race ban.
Max is way ahead in the penalty points chart - Liam Lawson is in second place with 5.
  • Two points: Expire 30th June 2025. These were awarded for causing a collision with Lando Norris at the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix.
  • Two points: Expire 27th October 2025. These were awarded for forcing Lando Norris off track during the 2024 Mexico City Grand Prix.
  • One point: Expires 1st November 2025. This point was awarded for being under the minimum VSC delta time during the 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix Sprint.
  • One point: Expires 1st December 2025. This point was awarded for driving unnecessarily slowly on a cooldown lap during qualifying for the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix.
  • Two points: Expire 8th December 2025. These were awarded for causing a collision with Oscar Piastri during the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
  • Three points: Expire 1st June 2026. These were awarded for causing a collision with George Russell during the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix.
I suspect RB will be annoyed that he threw away 11 constructor points given Mercedes are now 15 points ahead of them. Also brings Russell closer to 3rd place.

Realistically, what could he say? Telemetry shows what he did.

Damon Hill is most definitely *not* holier than though. That's the façade he likes to project - and protect. The reality isn't quite so shiny, though he vehemently denies any wrongdoing. The problem with motor racing is that the wrong people get put on a pedestal for all the wrong reasons.

I won't say more than that, because I could get into trouble for saying the truth.

World Champion in any big sport is not a thing for nice people

you need the drive and self absorption in order to be able to get that far

especially in sports where the individual is the key

F1 is a funny sport - the winner is the driver but the Team is the most important thing
but in many ways the driver is least important member of the team - they just need to be the best - any best will generally do!

(looks at forum title - cycling is weirder!)

Some of the coverage (14.00 - 17.00, 22.00 - 05.00, 13.00 - 16.00) will be on the Quest free to air channel and various manufacturers will have in-car streams on Youtube if they continue as per previous years.

I did watch loads of the race one year many years ago

watched the start and first hour or so and went off for a while came back for a while

then watched a fair bit in the evening and into the night

I think alcohol might have been involved

then came back the next morning (after a lie in which the dog worried about) and watched a bit more

It does go on a bit - but that is the nature of it

but it was good to give it a proper go and get the general concept over time as it went on

in case it is not obvious - I was "between girlfriends" at the time
(although in my case that doesn;t narrow things down much!!!!)
