Peter Windsor and Eddie Jordan ( who cycles a lot with Newey and lives close to him ) suggested Newey was feeling very uncomfortable with Horner and his perv antics revelation , did not like Netflix intrusion and the soap operafying of F1 . Judging by Hammy Stevenage's cute knowing smile and his comments at Miami F1 driver conference when asked about Newey there seems some growing feeling Newey will ride the Prancing Horse

I recently discovered (or read in the media) that Jordan is Newey's manager and was instrumental in negotiating his departure. Presumably if this is the case he knows more than he can divulge.
Horner has been downplaying Newey and bigging up Wache in recent times, perhaps preparing for the fateful day.

Williams reported as in talks with Newey, and their new proprietors have deep pockets.

I think that's an extremely harsh judgement of Johnny Herbert.
Who has won three GP, the Le Mans 24 hours, the Formula Ford Festival and the British F3 championship, and, had he not had the accident at Brands, would likely have won the 1988 International F3000 title. That's most certainly NOT a "never was".
To achieve what he did after having his legs so badly smashed is nothing short of a miracle. They had originally intended to amputate his legs in order to get him out of the car. And the fact that Benetton kept faith with him post accident and gave him his F1 debut (on which he finished 4th) puts things into perspective.

Yes, he was. He still actually can't walk properly, and struggles with debris from the crash still coming out in blisters.

I was very clearly referring to his F1 record.
What he gets up to outside of that is irrelevant when criticising someone who has piloted a team to more F1 championships than he's had pies for breakfast.

His F1 record is still far better than the vast majority of drivers who have raced in the category.

Well said Reynard , Johnny was shouting to be given something to "put him out" when he saw the state of his legs immediately after the Brands shunt . He was a fantastic talent and was handicapped by his legs for the duration of his driving career , he had immense natural talent and the courage of a lion . Too many armchair fartboxes here with just a smattering of knowledge blabbing their mouths off. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing
