The overtaking is so artificial. I want to see drivers going at it tooth and nail, each driving flat out to their limits and the better driver prevailing. I dont want to see a driver overtaking simply because his opponents battery hasn't quite topped out yet.

its just rubbish imo now, and Ive been watching F1 since the 70s, yet I doubt Ill even bother with a race now this season, go ride my bike instead

A bike ride rather than watching F1 is acceptable.

I was surprised how quickly the battery seemed to re charge and also how quickly it was depleted.

I wonder about the tactics for Monaco as that's a unique place.

I on the whole enjoyed the race, so early days though I'm not making any judgements yet as to how the season will pan out.
I've also been watching, just about, since the 70s.

It's certainly a different focus for the drivers, and seemed less about how quickly the tyres wore out, or blistered etc, so in that respect I thought the apparent lack of tyre management was something positive.

Lindblad was initially the main star for me especially as a rookie (Loved the way he didn't just let Verstappen through), but Bearman getting up to 7th was probably equally as impressive.

The different tracks will produce interesting and very different problems

Personally I will still be watching - it should be interesting to see how they develop and cope

and what different ways they develop to use the rules in "creative" ways

I just hope Ferraro gets its act sorted out and give Lewis a decent chance - at times it seems like they have to have a committee meeting every time something unexpected happens!!

To be fair to Lewis there was no mention of the appallingly inefficient way they ran things when he read the original pay cheque.

True - I think there was a difference in expectations in terms of listening

They do seem to be getting better
but the Virtual Safety Car at the weekend was crazy - it may have been the right decision - they did come 3 and 4 after 2 faster cars
but the way Lewis reacted suggested that it was not something he could be confident that they had reacted as discussed before the race

It maybe just a good system - but the drivers are not yet confident that it works and it will settle down after discussions after the race

as with everything this year - we shall see!
Especially with the new "everything" as it is likely to produce more "incidents" that cause VSC and full SC situations

Not an avid F1 follower so please bear that in mind but surely this is why there is a constructors championship as well as a drivers one

the constructors chamionship is actually the main one for the teams

Its main reason is so that the teams do not just focus on the needs of one driver over the other
Which has caused problem for Red Bull when their "set the car up how Max wants and the other guy will just have to cope" attitude has caused them problems and cost them money over the last few years

Sadly the drivers are husbanding electrons when they should be pedal to the metal and going for it as fast as they can possibly drive.

By all means have energy recovery and electrical assistance, but not to the point where drivers are having to spend considerable time and effort charging them instead of having a ding dong with rival drivers as fadt as they can possibly go.

I want to see drivers extracting the maximum performance they can hadle at all times. If I wanted to competitors deliberately going slow id watch a walking race.

I think this will improve rapidly

SOme driver/teams were being conservative in terms of wear and tear and all that

I think some teams were assuming that the failure rate would be a lot higher so they were hoping that any finish would result in points

Which would explain why Lewis managed to speed up a lot on the last few laps and didn;t seem able to for the previous laps when he was just staying the same time behind Charles
Of course - he might have just got annoyed and pressed some button the team told him not to - but even if that was the case it could tell them that the car is more resilient than they thought
