For once I completely agree with you. Apparently there are some rule changes coming...

Must be a right pain fo rthe engineers when they say they might change the regulations

if they have a fixed target they can work to overcome the problems

but if it might move then they are aiming at a moving target with no certainty of the direction it will move in

although "certain teams" might have more influence than others!

I grew up watching motorsport with my dad like other did with football and Murray commentated on so many events . It makes me happy and sad to the remember him and those happy days.

Well that race was quite interesting but ultimately predictable (at the front at least). The biggest shock was Ocon admitting blame for a collision.

It was great fun watching Leclerc and Hamilton scrapping for team dominance

Great commentator

and a man that could change reality itself with a single comment!

Much missed

I remember having an F1 game on the original PlayStation that had his commentary but back then it was pretty limited and used a few stock phrases over and over. One of them was ‘unless I’m very much mistaken - I am very much mistaken’. I could never work out if it was an actual bit of commentary or recorded for the game.

Edit - just checked and not only was it one of his famous quotes it was also the title of his autobiography.

It was another entertaining race for sure, bit odd to be missing several of the usual main contenders though.

Bearman mighty impressive again.

I'm hoping at least Ferrari can start to win a few races, as don't really want to see Merc just walking off into the distance.

I appreciate what some people are saying about whether it is 'real racing, but in reality how long has it been since it was properly real racing where drivers could go flat out lap after lap?
With the tyres of recent years, managing your tyres has been a requirement of winning races for a large number of years now.

I'm not saying I agree that the current situ is proper racing, but at least it feels to me like it's a bit more tactical, and it definitely generates more action than someone trying to manage their tyres for 40 laps for example.
Presumably tyre management will still be a thing, but I wonder if it is less obvious now as they are not going quite as fast, and backing off to recharge etc etc.

Im not finding it remotely entertaining. Its so artificial, and those doing well aren't doing so because theyre the best drivers pushing their equipment on a knife edge in mortal combat.

Its leaving me cold, and it seems im far from alone with that sentiment.

Any more artificial than deliberately degrading tyres , DRS , forced use of of 2 tyres, forced 2 stops a Monaco ?
F1 has never been balls out from flag to flag.

I wasn't a fan of DRS for the same reasons. They were a poor substitute for writing proper technical rules to limit aero.

Tyre deg happens to a greater or lesser extent in any motorsport, its a function of driving cars, and all teams had to manage an equal problem, and they pushed as hard as they could within that constraint. Slowing to drop a gear and raise ref to charge a battery isn't pushing at all.

2 forced stops was also a poor decision.

There was a time when it was indeed balls to the wall from flag to flag to flag, barring the limits of fuel capacity and mechanical wear. Husbanding electrons for strategic deployment is not a measure of driving skill, but a function of mathematical modelling. Im on the verge of bailing out a viewer until the next mechanical formula comes along.
