I remember the name ,if not the actual tyre as I don't remember anyone running them .
Were they not even softer ?
I fattened up my smoke/darts with a humongous 1.95 width

I rode smoke/dart combo for years. My first MTB was a Saracen Tufftrax pre-suspension days and came with a pair of Tioga Farmer Johns.

Only suspension I've ever had is a flex stem

Still got this frame but currently not road/trail worthy

Farmer Johns!?
They were seriously heavy tyres, like they'd been lifted off a John Deere (even though John Tomac advertised them)

Flex-Stems?, yes I remember those, & trying them
I also remember Pro-Flexes bikes, with the elastomer rear-suspension (the 840??)
