Mr Kipling's exceedingly good products... what's your fave?

I can't stand any of the Mr Kipling stuff - all way too sweet and flavourless.

OMG I agree with FM on something!

Packaged food makers are just finding ways of bunging the cheapest ingredients into their product (which mostly turns out to be fat and sugar) and tarting it up with some flavouring.

Home made cakes are fantastic. Even the rather hit and miss ones the kids bring home from food tec (cooking to you and me) are far better than anything "Mr Kipling" (actually the multinational Premier Foods who were recently fined £16,000 for violating health laws for having a dead mouse in their products).

Making a cake really only takes ten minutes to do and tastes of cake. Delia cakes are fairly foolproof.

Best Kipling cake? May as well ask us what is the best branch of Halfords!

French Fancies. Particularly the brown ones.

You can have ours then; no one ever eats 'em.

To be fair to FF he didn't ask for a critique. We can all do better.

Bakewell slice or Viennese Whirl please. And just recently they're doing Halloween Fondant Fancies (I think they're his, if not, they're very similar) which are very morish. Of course they're tat, but that's part of the attraction.

With the above proviso, I would admit to liking the French Fancies. I will have to find out why the brown ones taste different, cannot say I had noticed.

Usually tho' I purchase cakey items from the bakers. His doughnuts, apple pies, bakewell tarts would all knock Mr Kipling into a cocked-hat. A special mention must go to his iced buns. He starts baking at 3 am. ;)

I think in my mind, I think 'chocolate' which is an improvement to any cake. Maybe they aren't, but the colour just fools me.

At work, we thrive on Yesterbake. The local bakery chain, Thomas's, has a shop in Tang Hall, and as well as the fresh stuff, they have day old cakes and pastries from their shops across York - 4 Iced Danishes for £1.20 is our standard order.

My favourite Mr Kipling assemblage is the Mr Kipling tribute roundabout on the A426 just north of rugby, which features two topiary cherry bakewells.

I would never eat anything as processed as Mr Kipling!

I'm not a non-processed confectionary tart (

) (i.e. I'll eat qualidee stuff along with the rest of the carrot-cake munchers) but you can't beat a bit of sugary indulgence now and then... and the cream of this particular crop, for all French Fancy fanciers, is the Giant French Fancy

:hello: Fnaar :hugs:

Which of your other friends are you we going to share that with?

I'll bring some to your office.

With regards to where do they sell 'em... not actually sure... my daughter and friends brought one home one day (I think it was Morrisons or M&S) amd made the mistake of leaving me alone with it in the kitchen...

I like the "This is actual size, not a magnifying window!" bit!

I remember at Iceland, we had some triple packs of one sort of Foxes biscuit, and the outer wrap had a photo of the biscuit, about 5" across, and in little letters "Biscuit not shown actual size". Well duh.
