I like mbb, it makes me laugh. Even went to see it live at the NEC in Birmingham. Certainly better than some other comedies on tv, although I too, think that the film will flop because it will lack the spontaneity that the live recordings had.

I doubt it - "the intelligence men" wasn't too bad, though not up to the Andre Preview heights granted

I don't really 'get' the show, to be honest. I never got 'allo 'allo either.

I tried it because people at work said it was good and even more surprising my mum (given the language). I too thought it was complete shite...

These half hour shows just never transfer to the full movie format even when the half hour is quite good

This won't, because the source material is about as funny as a flick in the baws, but there have been successes over the years: Dad's Army, The Fugitive, Mission Impossible (some of them), Naked Gun (all of them), South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut, The Untouchables, Serenity... There are probably more!

Saturday Night Live created characters which turned into great movies too, like Blues Brothers, Coneheads and Waynes World.

Unfortunately, Mrs Brown is not a character to make a great movie out of. I don't normally complain about the Beeb spunking money on sh!te, but this is extracting the urine big time.

I dont think the BBC have invested much money in the film, it appears to be a Universal films and BBC collaboration, and the budget is modest.
I'm sure the Christmas DVD sales alone will cover the poduction costs.
It isnt my cup of tea, but it's due for release in June 2014!
