Finally decided (after 3.5 years) that maybe I should get some rear mudguards!
Any recommendations? Just ordered a new hardtail for commuting and it would be nice to avoid getting a soggy bum.
I had one of those RRP Neoguards on my old bike and it was reasonably effective in keeping my face dry and mud free.

I'd recommend these ...https://www.themudhugger.co.uk/.. and so do plenty of others

I have Topeak Defenders on my MTB and they have stood the test of time where others in the past have failed miserably. The bracket which secures the front one into the hollow of the steerer tube can be a bit of a pain to work with. They do sell the rear seperately on the linked site, I think.

I have a rear one from Halfords for about £8 and a crudcatcher on the tube that cost £4. I find that unless you're going for 'proper' mudguards, the front flappy plastic type tend to do just that and not be any more effective than a crud catcher and I catch my toes on it occasionally.

For the MTB I bought over the weekend I'm looking at these from Halfords at £12 a pair.

They seem to be non-suspension though, which won't help. If it's got suspension then I find Crud's are great for the 650B bike.
I have those guards - they do the job. The rear was a bit short when I had them on 700c wheels, but are fine on 26". You may need to cut the stays with a hacksaw to get a nice fit.

Thanks. I've got these from Aldi which do the trick of trimming *

* note: they may also perform lock-cutting, but I'd not know anything about that
