If you've got a bike that will take full guards, and it's your work bike do it - well worth it, keeps loads of carp of you.

+1 to full guards. Problem I found with raceblades on my first commuter is the amount of crap that gets into your brakes, particularly the rear brake because these guards don't give the brakes any protection. Full guards give the best protection to the mechanicals and the rider, so if you are planning to commute through the winter they are essential.

I have full guards from new and get the hump with people that don't as someone going quickish throws an almighty amount of muddy water out behind them, bloody annoying when you're following them through traffic

Mudguards are mainly there to stop the water coming up on you - I've been soaked by people with full mudguards before as the water is throwing behind at a level lower than the guard extends.

And at the end of the day it's not their fault - you shouldn't follow so close ;)

I've got SKS raceblades on the CAAD 9.

I had Crud roadracers on the Boardman I have just sold.

The SKS are in a different league. They appear to leave less crap on the bike, are easy to take on and off and have a greater clearance from the wheel than the crud roadracers.

I wouldn't buy the crud roadracers again.

in traffic it's a bit hard to get in front if you have to hang back 10 feet to avoid their dirty water

it's anti bloody social, anyway I ain't doing turns in the wet with someone without proper guards

I don't think its anti social not to buy some mudguards.

It might be anti-social if someone went out of there way to make more water spray up the back purposely... which basically isn't possible.

I do, cars and lorries aren't allowed to throw up water/spray, I'd say spraying road water up into the air because the road is wet is anti social

I've struggled to get my Cruds fitted correctly, just so tight to the tyre and brakes that they are rubbing after the slightest bump in the road, have gone back to the Raceblades and have just kept the extra bit from the MKII's that protect the front mech(cable tied on) seems to work OK.
Maybe the Durano+ tyres are a bit chunkier than other 23's
