Hi, can anyone recommend a good set of mudguards for a road bike. Not sure on which to get, I have the specialized diverge a1 sport, tyres are 700x30.

Fixed wheel fanatic.
Without eyelets for the guards you'll have to look at things like crud or sks clip ons.
Good luck, fitting mudguards has made my winter riding so much better.

I have used cruds and sks raceblades previously on a bike with close clearances and no eyelets. I did a bit if reasearch when my wife bought a bike which had close clearances and needed mudguards. At some point I was going to start a thread about pdw metal fenders. I stuck them on her bike.

Nothing comparable when clearance is an issue. they are the answer what a lot of people have been looking for. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.

As said above - crud guard or raceblades if you have very tight clearances/no eyelets. They're OK but not a patch on the SKS Chromoplastic.
If you can get proper guards then theses are the dogs dangly bits..... but if you're at all non-mechanicaly inclined they're an absolute swine to fit the first time.
If there was any justice, the person who wrote the assembly "instruction booklet" would be dragged into the carpark and slowly beaten to death, before being buried in a badly assembled coffin.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
PDW metal fenders are streets ahead.

There is no clearance over the front wheel for Crud Road Racers on my Ribble 7005SL . I can't get the recommended 4 mm allen key between the brake and the tyre, and I've tried with the guards themselves. PDW instructions say to position the guard at least 5mm away from the tyre. Are you saying they will fit my bike? They are a lot of dosh. BTW if you want good looking guards (and you've got the clearance) take a look at Whyte's.

Try them. If they don't fit send them back.
