I keep the TV on Gold or Comedy Central during the day....I'm rarely watching it, I just like to have the noise in the background.

I get to put up with jeremy vile while I work in people's homes, usually at top volume. There is nary a day that goes by without me asking the client to turn the TV down. Sometimes I cannot hear myself think. Its very disorienting to have that much volume and a massive screen in a 12 x 12' living room. I have packed up and left a client's house before now, on account of jeremy vile.

I like to have it on for background noise too, I got the friends DVD box set for xmas so I'll be putting them on in a min

Ok mine are second hand but who cares.
PS My I Pod is full.So back to buying discs,There is something satisfying holding the shiny disc and reading the sleeve/case.

It's more satisfying holding a 12" vinyl disc, reading the sleeve notes without the need for a microscope and searching the run out groove for evidence of George 'Porky' Peckam's hand in the records production.
