When I had mousyfecker's American cousins with me at previous home, I used cheap sliced cheese like at the grocery store, and dental floss mixed into it. It gets petrified after a day or so, and the mice can still nibble without setting off the trap. Until they hit that dental floss. About 90% success rate.
