It's cold :cold:
It's March and you live in Manchester. what were you expecting?

Morning all. First of all this morning there was a bit of a red sky, it has now become a uniform grey all over.

I had to feed Gwen first thing when I got up. Opened a sachet of food, put it in her bowl, she took one sniff and off she went, she had another look later but wabbit is not for her. I put it outside for the neighbours cats that come round.

My first post retirement project is building a Bob Copland Wakefield endurance rubber powered model aeroplane.

The fuselage is circular and is made from balsa rings with 24 stringers evenly spaced radially.

The cardboard formers are used to wind 1/8" x 1/32" balsa strip round and glue the laminations together. The cardboard rings are then slid onto a 1/2" square armature and the rings spaced appropriately to form the longitudinal profile. Three quarters of the stringers are then glued in place before removing the armature and the cardboard formers and the remainder of the stringers are then glued in place.

The model will look something like this but with a circular cross section instead of an oval one - I'm preparing oval formers for a second model.

The construction method looks like this

Copland was recruited by Hawker as a draughtsman and his first project was to design the rearview mirror for the Hawker Hurricane. The last plane that he worked on was the Harrier Jump Jet.

Are you going to wet the wood prior to bending it round the former?

Just got given my notice. Not unexpected given they're moving a lot of work to Prague. So if anyone knows of any IT procurement management jobs, please let me know!

Not really. I went back for two days last week and spent the rest of the time recovering:sad:
I know you celebrate your sunny mornings on the coast. Is there a bit of SAD in your mix? For what it's worth, I know that eternal fatigue thing. I know that most of it is medication for a kidney problem, some is my own self-medication, but I do know that the uplift of sunlight can change my energy levels for the whole day.

I got the official diagnosis of chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia in January after a year of tests. I think i just went back too soon. I have a few lessons to learn in my head about pacing, dealing with pain, starting slow and generally coming to terms with the fact my life needs to change.

I will get there, i am generally an optimist i just need to slow down on the good days to conserve myself for the bad.

I am no good at pacing. I find that you get lulled into the feeling that you have got over it and do a bit too much and bang you re away with the fairies.
I used to find that long conversations were enough to wear me out.
