More by accident than design, I found myself having the best time in 2016 for a Strava segment on my former commute home (500 yards or so up a hill). I haven't been that way for a few weeks now, but occasionally I checked on it to see if anyone was knocking on the door, as it were.
Yesterday somebody obliterated my effort by 11 seconds.
I was expecting just to go "meh", shrug my shoulders and forget about it. Instead of which, I took quite a detour home to go and defend it.
I failed, obviously. But the gap's down to 7 seconds and I'm planning what marginal gains I can make to cut the deficit further.
I'm 49 and a half years old. I am very sad.
I'm taking the Cube over there on Sunday morning, tyres at 120psi, whilst wearing "race fit" kit and shorn of the heavy backpack I usually have on going up that hill.Growing old is compulsory, growing up isn't.![]()
Hmmm, canal potter tomorrow or not ?
Let me know if it's muddy.
Actually I'm incredibly tempted if it stays dry.
It will be muddy. The goal is to make the cafe on the Canal at Higher Poynton.
This might be my first ride since my accident. I'll have to see how I feel in the morning as I've overdone the 'mobilising' the last couple of days and am stiff and sore. Popped a slow release morphine tablet tonight !
Don't rush it foss, and if you do make sure you fit those stabilizers![]()
What is it and what is it used for? lots of engines .... hopefully under control now!My park is on fire
You can just see Ollie in this pic, my regular photo challenge entry subject.
