I have just been shown a clutch of photos on FB of 4 year olds 'graduating' from pre-school. They are wearing caps and gowns and are posing for pictures. WTF, when did this become a thing? Someone has found a new way to remove money from parents and make small kids act like adults.

Edit: now seen it on the BBC. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-28399266
Keep up, old man. There was a thread on CC about kids "graduating" not too long ago.

In the last couple of years, isn't it a load of Beau Larques?

Well nobody told me!

I saw the thread about them graduating up to secondary school and proms etc, This is the first time I've heard about it being for pre school kids. They should all be running round pretending to be aeroplanes, not pretending to be grown ups for the sake of a marketing department.

Well said Grandad:tongue:

Seriously i agree. Children should be allowed to be children for as long as possible.

When mine left nursery .... they had a picnic where all the parents brought food and watched their kids play with their friends and their children could show them their paintings on the wall or which areas they liked playing in.

When they left primary they had a leavers ceromony ... but it was just where they stood and said a line or two about what they had enjoyed or what they wanted to be when they left, and all were presented with a dictionary and the head wished them good luck in the future. They also had a show where they made little groups and performed, musical instruments, read a poem, or did a little sketch (even the teachers!).

Obviously at secondary school level they did the prom stuff!

I think that what mine did at each stage suited their age.
