We didn't have a car until my brother learnt to drive, although my dad used to say for me to save my pennies so that I could buy one. My dad learnt to drive in the War but never kept his licence, I can only assume now that the experience must have shaken him up.

That's a MK2 Cortina about 1970ish I think.

my dad had a mk2 cortina..1968 ..my first car was a 11973 mk3 .
i did a job for a guy a few months ago with a mint mk 5 cortina with 22k miles in the garage ..it was a stunner but boy do they look basic compared to what we have now..

as for number plates...VYN 395M on my dads new Transit and CYW 440H on the Triumph 2.5
i used to remember plates on all my cars and motorbikes..but i can only remember odd ones..

I have a riding lawn mower. My fix it guy had one for sale on CL, and it gets delivered tomorrow after mass. A few years old, but I have that trace of Northern blood that says I shouldn't buy anything that could be mistaken for new. It does have a cup holder, and will fit through my gate. The Ariens will keep my lawn from looking like a cash crop. It has been 10 years since I have owned a gasoline mower.

You could probably just about fit a ride on mower on my lawn. Wouldn't get it through the gate tho'.

That looks like Austri/Switzerish in the background. It is a Ford Corrina mk2, I started work as an apprentice at a Ford Main Dealer that year and worked on quite a few of them over the years.
Correct :okay:We were on holiday in Switzerland in 1976 hence why I can date it! (I was a teen anger the next time I was back!) Most likely to be at the Geneva/Vevey end as that is where Dad had work connections. That photo was exposed to the sun for a long number of years, hence the colour of it!

I could imagine Steve McQueen whizzing past in the background on his Triumph motorcycle.
