On my third attempt to spear a pickled onion, on my lunchtime plate of salad, it pinged off the plate and rolled a line of salad cream across the table..

Quite stormy here, and dark as night. Glad I cut the grass after work yesterday. I ran out of gas halfway through the garden gate, so had to go and buy gasoline, as I have been all electric for some years, and didn't have a tank from which to draw more gasoline. It was threatening rain then, but didn't make good on the threat until 7a.m., after dogs were walked and weather readings taken, and tea was made.

So gorgeous I'm out on a ride. Got a bit more pedalling to do yet though

Now sat in Elmstone churchyard for a breather and a water bottle shower.

There's a tip there from my hiking days, most churches have an outside tap to refill your bottles if you're out in the middle of nowhere.

Here for rides.
We have friends who were near the epicentre - Antonio is from the area and they were visiting family. They've let folk know they're all OK but both are doctors and are now working at local hospitals to help out.
I suspect/fear the death toll will rise much higher given nigh on everyone was abed when it hit. Local TV news keeps mentioning Norcia and inaccessible.

I hope all goes well......are you at the Churchill?
No the Nuffield very swish building ... But they seem to have taken the subject of hot desking to a new level: "hot-bedding". Operation was yesterday, and Dad was still in recovery this morning, though they are hoping the person occupying his bed was going to theatre shortly! I'm to ring to find out where I should visit him:rolleyes:
