Bacon butty? A fat furred artery or two is a fine cure for a mild poisoning by alcohol. No risk at all, just be careful you don't burn yourself on the frying pan. I like a fried egg in mine as well.

That sound like a heart attack waiting to happen :stop:

Haven't you heard the news today? Cooking in lard is safer than vegetable oil. Maybe we'll see the end of those bright yellow fields yet. But'll confess I like a nice runny egg as well, or maybe two.

We have a new smoke alarm, fitted a couple of weeks ago as the old one used to go off too often (every time I opened the oven door and released a cloud of steam). Well up till today I'd not set this one off (steam from the oven was ok), and today the butter I was cooking my sugar snap peas in, just caught a little and started smoking. I didn't know what was happening first two loo wish beeps, then a voice telling me it had detected smoke, and that it was going to sound the alarm and make a loud noise.

At that point I realised two things, one I needed to quickly deal with the peas, and two, I hadn't got the foggiest how to tell it not to make a loud noise! So I shouted to Mr Summerdays to deal with it! Still it was reassuring as I was beginning to think nothing set it off!

Ah @summerdays , what make is the new one - my old one goes off without the slightest provocation, I think it watches me to see if I turn the oven on.

So, I need a new one - what's yours pls?

It's a fancy one.... Nest! It also produces a light when you go up or downstairs in the dark. I'm assuming it wasn't cheap as I think it's a boy's toy! They thought it would be a help to me:rolleyes: because I couldnt reach the old one to switch it off without a long handle so we always had to leave one nearby in the hall for me. In reality they wanted to play!;)

After my cycling exertions of yesterday, I have spent today doing the square foot of sod-all!

Thx @summerdays, and you are right, it ain't cheap! But since I don't have a smartphone (and won't be getting one) it's a bit OTT for me - but many thx anyway.

Ummm... no.

This reads a bit definite to be scientific and there may be some missing context.
Not that the cooking method of the bacon in my imaginary bacon butties was mentioned anyway.

You mean unlike the absolute certainty of Global Warming or Evolution?

I like cooking in that yellow stuff so I want to keep those fields!

It'll kill you. :stop: And they're smelly. :headshake:

Didn't have any bacon and couldn't be bothered to go to the shop.

I am shocked by the state of your larder.
