Piefest report.
I picked up
@Hill Wimp and
@User14044 and took them to Woodrup Cycles along with mince and potato and corned beef and onion pies. Steve Woodrup and his staff were excitedly awaiting our arrival. Not because of two potential sales but because of the anticipated epicurean pleasures of pie. Hills and Rocky drooled over the three Woodrup bikes downstairs and then Steve took us up to the inner sanctum where the frames are built and the bikes assembled. A Reynolds 953 tubed piece of perfection had both Hill's and Rocky's pleasure centred were overloaded and they nearly passed out with sensory overload.
We retired to the workshop where we our first two pies. Steve Woodrup is a great raconteur and we reluctantly tore ourselves away and drove over to Chateau Vernon where further pie was waiting to be consumed. One pie later and Mrs Vernon drove us into Leeds, Hills carrying an emergency pie and Rocky carrying a pie for Mrs Rocky.
We spent a couple of convivial hours in the Duck and Drake drinking beer and eating further pie before heading back to the railway station to wend their way back to the Great Wen. We missed an opportunity to have further pie by not going to Pieminster but it will keep until they come back up to place their bike orders at Woodrups.
I'm sure that Rocky and Hills will supply tasting notes on the pies.
