No Wednesday ride..... but I did empty the remaining contents of the chest freezer into cold boxes and bags, went shopping, visited a colleague and her new baby for cuddles, cooked dinner, wiped out freezer, eaten dinner....
Hm, need to go and put everything back into the freezer now.

Our central heating packed up this evening. Ninety minutes with my head in the airing cupboard with a multimeter, a screwdriver , and (miraculously) a spare actuator for the V4043H motorised two-port valve.....and we seem to have staved off hypothermia once again.

I only have Amal carburettor spanners and needle jets (monobloc) to hand in case I acquire British motor bike with a carburettor that needs servicing.

I spent about an hour on Google looking for a spare actuator/powerhead......and then I remembered that I had bought a complete replacement valve about 15 years ago. After a brief rummage, there it was! A quick bit of cannibalisation , and Bob's Your Uncle. No need to drain down the entire system.
It doesn't usually work out like that. Oh no. I'm still celebrating.

My best ever bodge was refurbishing/repairing a rear windscreen demister switch from an Austin Allegro 1500 Vanden Plas using a 5/64 HSS drill shaft and the blade carriers from a fret saw. It worked perfectly for the next four years until we scrapped the car.
