I turned up for a social ride that I'd enlisted for. When nobody showed I decided to follow the Rolfe Judd, a sailing barge, down to the café by the Thames barrier. I got there in time to see the barge come through. When it was alongside it turned around and went back upstream. So after my coffee I chased it on the way back. I overtook it by the O2.

And when I checked what had happened with the ride, it turned out that it wasn't for another 3 weeks. Now that's early!

That's the one.

Do you remember the Venetian water carnivals that they hold on them ?

They do them now every 2 years and they are quite spectacular now. Hythe has really come on and is a lovely place now.

no I don't remember them. I was brought up in nearby Folkestone and left home at 16, 1967, in 1972 I came back for a year then moved away and apart from the odd visit I haven't been back much. I think my last visit to Folkestone was in 1989 just after my Mum died. I have family in Ashford and Dover, the last time I was down in Kent was a couple of years ago when my sister who lives in Ashford was ill.

Ugh. A long day. Today was a two car collection of Miss K and her stuff from Birmingham. We also moved two cars of stuff, some hers, the rest communal, to the house she is sharing next term. There was also a bit of help given with the cleaning of the house she has been in. Two of the other girls had already left without doing their share of cleaning or packing!
We've brought her bike home. It doesn't look like there's anywhere to put it at the next house. It has been in the cupboard under the stairs this year.

You have my sympathy... We did I one car load (and roof box) from one child last weekend, and we are off shortly to to the other one today!! They can't get into their accommodation until Septempber. We still have stuff to bring back from the first one yet! Where all this stuff is going at this end I don't know!

I did, I did! I saw the Typhoon display pilot whilst having a wander around the stands at the Torbay Airshow. I wasn't sure at the time, I've just been reading the Torbay newspaper.
It's more interesting than my local one.

Yes, storage is a problem! It's the random bits of food and nearly empty packets of value rice etc that's the most annoying. I've avoided her room for now. There is overflow to the rest of the house too. An office chair in the lounge!
