I've discovered that my Rhodie is a psycho. The new girls are living in terror of her but in her frenzy of pecking and squawking she pecked her grey friend who was distinctly unimpressed.

Rhode Island Red? I had one when I was a child... they are psychos when new kids come on the block. We got a White Leghorn and the poor thing was very 'henpecked'.

Recently my granddaughter in her sling reminded Mrs MY of Mr Chad. I wonder how many here remember him.

Tried to fish the evening rise on a reservoir on the Isle of Man. They were topping everywhere, it was like a jacuzzi at times. Not one did I get. The midges however had a field day. Not much bites me and indeed these guys seemed to find me a bit unpalatable, but I must have had around a kilo of the little swines in my ears alone.

One of the things I never thougt I would miss is the sound of hungry cat miaowing in the morning, seems really strange going to work and no longer tripping over her

Thanks all, been 5 or 6 days now I think so little chance of her returning, 21 was a good age.

No more pets for a while, the hurt when they go gets worse every time.

Aw, it's so hard, you're really missing her.

Might be better to keep the new ones isolated for a while in case they bring in any diseases?

My face is so sore, red and swollen from a bite /sting received whilst gardening yesterday. I didn't feel anything until I washed my face this afternoon in the shower after my bike ride. I made it to the pharmacy in Tesco just before they closed, for some Piriton.

Might be better to keep the new ones isolated for a while in case they bring in any diseases?

As far as I know fresh from battery-farming they are all inoculated and stuff.
I've been keeping the new arrivals segregated in the coop and run while the others are out doing their thing. I'll get them integrated by the end of the week. No facilities for full on separation unfortunately.
