I had some hospitalisation insurance because I was self-employed. It paid a daily rate that increased over time of stay in hospital, and also paid the day rate for each outpatients appointment. I took it out after a woman I worked with was involved in a traffic accident and spent about 8 months in hospital!

It was something I took out with my first employer when I was 18. I've never updated it and the insurer changed. It was quite funny when I said I had moved a while back. 21 years ago. Fortunately my folks still live there and they said I had an important letter this week, and then I realised it was accident insurance.
