Good morning from an overcast but pleasantly warm Suffolk. I was woken at about 7:35 this morning by DHL delivering a parcel (they did send a delivery update email at 7:30 I later found out) but was able to get another 30 minutes of dozing in afterwards before getting up to make a coffee.

The recycling bin has been emptied and needs to be retrieved which amounts to about all that has to be done today.

My local Sainsburys appear to have figured out that if they move all their produce around, no one can find what they're looking for. This means they no longer have to keep the tills staffed.

All supermarkets do this and the theory is that while you are searching for whatever you came in for you will see items you had no intention of buying but pick them up on impulse.
Got this from the horse’ mouth aka a supermarket manager.

You would think it would be a simple straightforward job!
Fitting a new number to our house.
Surprisingly the screws came out easy despite them being rusty . 6 screws for 3 numbers. Right! Tools needed. Screwdriver tick! Electric drill, spirit level tick.
I read the instructions, leveled the new number and marked out the position for the holes with a pencil. One of the holes was very close to a previous hole so I would have to be careful and drill to the side of it. I selected a drill for the rawl plug and started drilling . The battery went flat! Right find another drill! Found one and tried it. Smoke came out of it . Rummage around in my garage for another drill and found my old Black and Decker plug in one. Right now to find some drills! The first drill had a special masonry drill which will only fit that drill. Found my small box of drills . I also had to find my collection of Rawl plugs as the ones supplied were too small for the holes. Popped 2 new plugs in and tried to fit the backing plate for the new number. They had special stand off brackets which held the screws. My screwdriver bottomed out before it reached the screw head! Need to find an extended Posidrive screw attachment! Found one and fitted the number!

A mild, sometimes sunny and somewhat blustery day here chez Casa Reynard

Slept well after a day of doing diddly squat yesterday. Spent the morning writing as it was supposed to rain, but the forecast has changed significantly since last night, and so I will be doing some stuff in the garden later. I think I shall make a start on cutting some grass. What I might do is hitch the trailer to the mower, because there's a lot of downed smaller wood and the odd branch thanks to all the gales, and that way I can just stop and lob all that in the trailer as I go. Tomorrow and Wednesday are looking a bit iffy, but the rest of the week is looking warm and dry, so I'll definitely be able to make good inroads into that.

Anyways, it is time for luncheon, and someone wants their chicken.

Turned out a nice sunny day with little wind so felt almost warm.
Got my car back with new front springs. Yikes, parts alone cost about £300 so I went down and paid up as I believe if they give good service then I am willing to pay promptly.
The silly season is well under way already with touroid straggling everywhere along the Main St rather than use the perfectly adequate pavement. Parking is weird as the first time I went down to the garage an entrance /exit to the fuel pumps was blocked by a half dozen motorhomes parked side by side across the carriageway. The garage had closed for lunch break so nobody to chase them.
There is no charge for parking here and attempts in the past to introduce charges were resisted by most of the local population.
A lot are now changing their minds on that and favour charging to pay for a traffic warden to control the present chaos.

The good weather is not due to continue as the MV Hebridean Princess has appeared. We used to call her the "Rain Boat" as every time she visited it poured rain. This was our old ferry MV Columba now converted into a small luxury cruise liner.
