we hire home cleaners, I clean & re-arrange my stuff before they get here, then usually can't find my stuff after they leave

Once had a particular, loonier than average boss.
He would go through offices and gather up any papers left on your desk
Then you had to go and ask for it back.
Claimed it was a security risk.

Couldn't you produce a 'Samizdat' version and claim you were being oppressed?
