Working day completed.

A mixed bag weather wise here chez Casa Reynard. Hosing with rain early doors, then bright & sunny in the middle of the day, followed by a load of showers rattling through late afternoon and into the evening.

Slept moderately well in spite of ongoing issues. Woke up with my face mashed into the cat. I've had something of a kitchen day today. In the morning, I made a batch of szmalec - Polish-style pork dripping flavoured with fried onions, garlic, pepper and crispy bacon. It's absolutely lovely on toast.

Had a lovely luncheon of sourdough bread & butter, corned beef, abondance cheese, fruit and a :cuppa:

Afternoon was largely spent a) making a large pot of beef mulligatawny soup, and b) sneaking off to have a bit of a girly pamper session on account of some rather inconvenient cramps.

The evening was spent making an impressively-sized spotted dick using the recipe I flagged up the other night. Was absolutely lush, so thanks muchly to @PeteXXX for giving me the idea in the first place!

So supper was a big bowl of mulligatawny soup, the last of the tartiflette, roast veg and venison meatballs, and a nice helping of spotted dick & custard. :hungry: :mrpig: :becool:

I read it a very long time ago. These days I find my Kindle's better on the eyes. Not that I read much sci fi now.

Sci-fi is my go-to in terms of entertaining myself, albeit I much prefer space opera to dystopian-type stuff. But Fahrenheit 451 was one I've rather enjoyed. OTOH Margaret Attwood's "The Handmaid's Tale" just weirded me out. Not the subject matter, but just that it was very odd, and sort of seemed to stop in the middle of the story and leave a load of loose ends.

No kindle here. Reading glasses and a nice paper book, although that does become problematic at bath time LOL!

A strange day from a weather point of view. It looked lovely and sunny one second and then heavy hail, rain or sleet would appear out of nowhere. Also very cold. 🥶

I managed to make it to work and back between showers. I went to my dance class tonight now that my back is more or less better. In fact, the more I move, the better it is. If I have been inactive, I get stiff.

Time for an early night.
