I had the sort of phone call that I dread from my mum earlier this evening...

"We've got a problem with the TV"

She and my stepfather are a pair of technology numpties - no computers, basic mobiles for emergency use only, etc - so when ever they get a new piece of electronic equipment it's a case of set it up and hope they don't fiddle with the controls. From what was described (no TV, radio channels only), one of them may have selected retune and scan for the old analogue channels only. I'll find out tomorrow afternoon.
My opening gambit was to remind them that Currys opens in the morning and they can get a new one which didn't go down too well.

This afternoon's shopping & ticket collection turned into quite an enjoyable 2 hours on and off road in the warmth and a bit of sunshine, followed by 15 minutes of drizzly miserableness. Partly my fault as I'd only taken a very small backpack and couldn't quite get everything in, so had to sit outside Lidl and eat the chocolate hazlenut sauce filled doughnut that was the freebie item.

This evening's hot chocolate has been had and the recycling bin has been moved to the front of the house ready for emptying in the morning. There's nothing else to do this evening other than to sit back and watch the recording of the Hungarian Grand Prix as it sounded to be quite a good one from the radio coverage. The BTCC coverage can wait for the next few evenings.

I went to Bury St Edmunds today for the simple reason I'd never been there before. People seemed surprisingly friendly there - out on a country walk friendly, not market town friendly - plus it didn't rain until I headed back to London. I was surprised to see that the cathedral there is called St Edmundsbury. I saw on a map that there was a river Linnet nearby so I went down to the river below the abbey remains but a sign told me it was the river Lark. Birds are easier to identify than rivers, it seems.
