It's been a cool, overcast and breezy day here chez Casa Reynard. Felt distinctly autumnal.

Slept well, and had a bit of a lie in. Still feeling a bit drained and a bit sneezy. Prepped some apples for a crumble this morning, and finished servicing the cutting deck. Everything is now cleaned and greased and I can't seem to find any more plant fibres to remove from the drive spindles. Also spent some time trying to troubleshoot the sloppy steering, but I can't seem to find the reason for the play in the linkages.

In better news on the mower front, I have located an angle grinder at the back of one of the cupboards in the garage. Brand new, and still in the metal case! My late father was one for buying lots of tools behind mum's back - I mean there are at least six identical drills in that cupboard as well, not to mention a whole bunch of other stuff. Anyways, now that I have established the presence of said angle grinder, I can sharpen the blades, as they are in serious need of doing.

This afternoon, I walked to one of my favourite foraging spots of a nearby hedgerow and slowly bimbled home, searching for hazelnuts as I went. It didn't look terribly promising, but somehow, I managed to almost fill my wicker shopping basket.

Had a fabulous supper of a turkey, mozzarella & pesto toastie with a Caesar salad on the side, then an apple & blackberry crumble with custard for afters.

A quiet evening is planned.

The missing bike storage keys have been found. The day after I had the lock changed . They've been sat outside at the front of the house for everyone to see since Sunday

I am trying to update the map on my old Tom Tom sat nav (dates back to 2012), but all I keep getting is the "Our servers are very busy right now" message and it's been like this for the past couple of days. It hardly gets used, but at least it's more up to date than the unit built into the car which had 3 years free updates from new (expired 2018) and Mazda want an extortionate amount for a new map card. It's tempting to splash out £100 on a new one (Garmin?) with a better touch screen.

Penultimate day of the working week completed and my final day in the office as I've been given the go-ahead to work permanently from home again. It will be made official in time, but my manager told me it was okay. Back to being able to work in perfect peace instead of a noisy office.

I didn't go for a ride tonight as I had a few bits of paper work to sort out and I cleaned my flat.

Start 25 for me at the moment. All my bike GPS units have been Garmin and work well which is why I was thinking of changing brand rather than the newer version of what I currently have.
The phone stays in a cubbyhole face down when I'm driving to avoid distractions.

Likewise, phone stays in the handbag. Besides, mine is PAYG, so google maps is out of the question. I can't update the maps on my Tom Tom anymore, but I can still update the other software. So it chugs along, only throwing a hissy fit where there's a new road. But there's the road atlas in the passenger door pocket for that...

On my way out this afternoon I was overtaken by a horse box with one of those Northern Ireland registration plates which have a prefix of three letters followed by four digits. The prefix letters were GGZ (as in Gee Gees)

Apart from the GG connection, What's the deal with northern Irish registered vehicles?
