I have given my boots a quick polish.

I misread that as boobs

Good morning from Suffolk where the bright & sunny start to the day is slowly turning a cloudy grey. Coffee and an extended lie in have been had.

I don't plan on doing much today apart from sorting out my overnight bag and doing a bit of travel snack shopping ahead of the next few days which is a Yorkshire triple header. York on Thursday, across to Leeds on Friday, home on Saturday, back up to York on Sunday and home again on Monday.
Smile as you go past the camera on platform six, at Leeds and on the footbridge, either end, in York. T'one near the ticket office is a dummy, to make you look elsewhere.

I am now the proud owner of a Specialized Hotrock.

Yes, it needs a bit of work. Will need to strip it down, clean / grease everything, new cables, new brake blocks, probably a new chain, new pedals (don't want the plastic ones that're fitted), mudguards and a saddle that's better for my bottom. Looks like it got outgrown and shoved to the back of the garage based on the grot and cobwebs, but it's all there and, aside from a few scuffs, seemingly in reasonable nick. Think I did OK for £35.

Not a bad price. Ours was 99p, but missing a lot of parts and a front wheel. The brakes tend to be the weakest component if they're rim brakes.

A single speed conversion for inspiration ...

I did have a quick squiz around the usual online marketplaces, and most of them seem to be selling for a fair chunk more (~ £130) albeit somewhat tidier, which is one of the reasons I went back for it. Besides, I've always fancied a hardtail. And yes, I do remember that conversion of yours, which you then sold and then bought back again!

It is rim-braked, but we'll see how it goes. As things stand, I'm probably going to keep the bike stock. But the twist shifters will be going regardless, and in any case, I suspect the one for the RD may be broken.
