It's been a grey and very blustery day here chez Casa Reynard, but most of the rain happened overnight.
Slept well. Green wheelie bin emptied and returned to base. An indoor morning was had on account of the northerly wind being bitterly cold. The main task was sorting out all the potatoes that I picked up earlier in the week. They've now dried out and the mud could be brushed off, and so I could see which ones were damaged and which ones weren't. It worked out to a third for the former and two thirds for the latter. Those were put in my storage sack, and the damaged ones are in a tray in the hallway, ready for immediate use.
And yes, what I picked up amounted to a whole sack of tatties.
Luncheon was the last of the crusty bloomer, the last of the pate, some cream cheese jazzed up with herbs from the garden, a pear, a tangerine and a
This afternoon's main task was erranding in town. Picked up some hardware and packaging supplies in B&M, and then tootled off to Aldi for herbal teas, four pints of milk and a cake of salted butter. Had a bit of a YS (ok, well they're red in Aldi) bonanza, and picked up three packs of posh rolls, some fresh basil, mushrooms, two bags of cauliflower & broccoli florets, strawberries, some packs of smoked cheese and salami, and a box with two large cod fillets in batter, all at 75% off.
Will be making pesto with the basil and some of my foraged walnuts, and the cauliflower & broccoli will end up under a cheese sauce made with a chunk of stilton that I've got lurking in the freezer. Plus there'll be fish & chips on the horizon too.
Supper was some potato, sweetcorn & bacon chowder, the last of the spicy tomato rigatoni, some home made potato & chorizo croquettes and some coleslaw, and then a baked banana for afters.
Going to have a nice quiet evening watching the cycling.
