It's been a really mild but very blustery day here chez Casa Reynard, lovely and sunny till about 3pm, and then it clouded over.

Slept well. Had a choresy morning. All yesterday's shopping was put away, and after, I spent the rest of the time till luncheon hauling firewood. One of the gales brought down a dead ash tree - down all the way as opposed to dingle dangling, so makes my life easier. The top shattered when it hit the ground, so I have a lot of lengths of wood that's already in manageable lengths and just right to bring in to cut up. So I got my quota of exercise. And very pleasant it was outside too.

Lovely luncheon of a roll filled with cheese and coleslaw, an apple, some grapes and a :cuppa:

A lazy afternoon listening to Burnley v Arsenal. But after, I prepared the fruit for a batch of spiced apple & quince jelly, and that is now currently cooking away on the hob. It's starting to perfume the house. Will be a lovely jelly to have with festive cold cuts or to glaze a gammon joint.

Now sat by the fire watching some FA Cup footy (Brackley v Notts Forest) with a :cuppa: and a sneaky Min Spy.

You neglected to mention what shape of plate your breakfast was served on @tyred. We need to know!

Pumpkins going for 10p each at Sainsburys. They've got lots to shift.

There was diddly squat left in Tesco here last night. I think Waitrose still had some though.

Mind you, I'd buy up a lot at 10p each if there were, because they're such a versatile veg. OK, technically they are a fruit, but YKWIM! There's a farm up the road who had loads when I cycled past least week. Will go for a sniff to see if they've put them on clearance.

Not a bad day out - dry, sunny and even quite warm out of the wind. Racing wasn't too bad, but a bit disrupted by stoppages which I expect at Brands due to the gravel traps. Still despise the M25 on the trip home with the queue for the Dartford Tunnel and W(hy)TF do some drivers sit in lanes 2 or 3 of the Essex section while doing 60mph.

The evening's hot chocolate has just been made and I must make the effort to have an early night as I would like to be out of the house by 06:30 on Sunday morning which means an 05:30 alarm clock for coffee first.
