I thought about visiting Pontefract a couple of months ago but the only thing I know about the place is Pontefract cakes and, while I'm quite partial to licorice, it didn't seem like enough of a reason to visit.

I think it might be on the edge of the Rhubarb Triangle.

Well that was a horrid journey down to Heathrow just over 2 hours with lots of traffic stop starting.

Coming back via north circular and up the M1 was much easier and just under the 2 hours.

Loads of wazacks in BMW and Audi's as normal

Or the castle?

One of many prisoners to be held in the castle was Richard II who was starved to death. What makes it even worse was he held in a cell which was above the bake house. So could sell fresh bread every day.

Lovely supper of beetroot soup, then baked sea bass, a jacket potato, salad and braised red cabbage. And the last of the festive crumble for afters. With cream of course.
