The overnight bag has been packed and I'm set for the weekend away. Is it tempting fate or being overly optimistic to put the waterproof jacket in the bag rather than leave it out to wear?

Saturday's trip to Lincoln is a case of having way too much time on my hands to do the research to save time and a few quid on the train cost. The obvious route is home-Ipswich-Peterborough-Lincoln but that involves a lot of standing around waiting for connections. It turned out to be cheaper and quicker to do home-Ipswich-Norwich (avoiding an hour's wait at Ipswich and at no extra cost!)-Peterborough, then the York train but getting off at Newark Northgate (cheaper than buying a ticket to NNG) and walking to Newark Castle for the train to Lincoln. All this saved a fiver on the tickets AND gets me in to Lincoln half an hour earlier than the more direct route.

The only drawback is that the may be footballing types on the Norwich bound train as the Canaries have a 12:30 kick off on Saturday and my train arrives at 11:45 with Carrow Road being a short walk from the station.

I think Kizzy would realise that she should avoid conflict with the pheasant. Bob is larger and much more determined to guard his territory. The pheasant could get on to the top of the fence (about five feet high).

I have been looking at videos on tubeyou, and it looks like they make a big jump then fly. So he will soon be out of Bob's reach on take off.
Having disturbed more than a few pheasants while on bike rides, I can assure you that they can make a very rapid and noisy escape when they want to so Bob probably wouldn't be a danger to them.

Hmmm, I beg to differ. Madam Lexi used to regularly come home with a mouthful of tail feathers.

See - the pheasant made an escape and all that Ms Lexi managed to get was the tail ^_^

My stepfather used to occasionally come home with a complete pheasant or two, mind you he had been doing a bit of beating for his brother's shoot and you had to be careful about the small non-crunchy metal bits.

These days most of the birds shot get chucked in a pit as no one wants them. Occasionally some shoots show their social conscience by offering the results of the shoots to homeless charities.🤣🤣🤣🤣

There's not a lot of meat on them, for their size.
