I was due to buy a new phone at Argos today , but i had an email this morning from Motorola advising me that the same phone was £40 cheaper so i ordered it direct from Motorola and it should arrive in 2-3 days

Thats often the case IME with Amazon etc offers, its cheaper from the manufacturer and plainly as in this case Argos are simply adding their own mark up.

Missing Co-op card resolved. I had put mini one on a key ring and put the full size on in the pile of cards in a drawer, and plainly forgot.

New puzzle, 1m steel rule has vanished. I did however find a long lost remote control whilst looking for it.

Yesterday I finally regained some measure of control over my bowels after a biopsy somewhere up in the exhaust pipes on Monday. I can testify that 4 days without pooing is not a comfortable experience. Also, I am now fairly sure that farts ferment. It's probably a good thing that I live alone.

I was in a similar situation in 95, stuff going in but nothing coming out for a week. Five days before I managed to have a pee. Not enough to fill a sample container, but it was a start.
Then the effects of what I'd been given to make me "go" kicked in.

Turns out part of the reason Felixstowe was busy this morning was the earlier Valentines Day Dip - a replacement for the Ch****mas Day Dip that was cancelled due to the weather. I think it was colder today than back in December!

Currently watching the Bathurst 12 hour race - the first yellow flag came after just 15 minutes with a Ford Mustang vs Skippy incident on Conrod Straight - the fastest part of the circuit. The Ford can be rebuilt, but I don't think there was a large enough piece of Skippy left to put on the barbie.

Time to make the evening's hot chocolate.

Slept well enough. Tootled gently through the chores whilst keeping an eye on the action from Milan-Cortina.

Spent a little bit of time in the garden this afternoon cutting up firewood. Then the rest spent in front of the telly watching various sports, including the E-Prix from Jeddah.

Supper was a bowl of "everything" soup, a roll filled with roast turkey, and some fried bread & butter pudding dredged in icing sugar.

But I've just had a snaccident of tortilla chips and hummus.

I've been following a rather interesting thread over in another section of the forum.

If this was presented as a novel or screenplay, it'd be like "naaaaah, it's way too far fetched." But sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction. At least there doesn't seem to be any time travel involved. Although there's a whiff of soapy bank notes on the air...

Just had a thought, today is 55 years since D-Day. No, not that D-Day, but 55 years since Decimalisation became the official currency of the UK!

I remember it well. I adapted with no problem, but it was hard on some folks. I used to roll my own in those days, so I went into a tobacconist's shop owned by two elderly sisters. I bought an ounce of Old Holborn and gave them a pound note (I think that's what it was). At this time I was used to the decimal currency and had pretty much forgotten the old system. They counted out my change as shillings and pence but with decimal coins.

The construction trade also switched to metric but we did have problems with it. It used to be that courses of bricks were four to the foot (in height), but the metric bricks were taller, and the wood windows were still imperial. It meant laying the bricks by the windows with bed joints thin as a hair, and it looked terrible. Plumbers also had to get adapter fitting to go from imperial to metric. It was all copper in those days.

We have a set of the old coins on our wall.
