Just over eighty miles cycled today, my longest ride of the year so far and I think that is the limit of my current fitness levels. It's flat around here, but the headwinds have been horrible at times.

I had fish and chips and will be having a relaxing evening. Back home tomorrow. It was nice to forget about work for a few days. Pity it's back to work on Monday.

SWMBO wanted some furniture moving round in the downstairs office earlier. That I've been unwell this week appeared to be irrelevant.

Down the back of a filing cabinet I found an old energy gel, about 2 years out-of-date. I'm guessing it'll still be OK. Don't want to waste it.

Maybe the taste will have improved with age. Like whiskey!

Certainly can't taste any worse!

After cycling 80 miles with head wind is no mean feat so well done for that👏 You definitely earned the fish supper so only question is, did you wash it down with Irn-bru🤔😂

Wifey is working on an art project w/ the kids & got a cpl small black light, flash lights

looking around the house at stuff because it detects other things besides art projects

I must have sprayed lubricant? WD40? on the hinges. this is normally invisible

then we started looking around at everything, including kitchen splatters. pretty hilarious, Wifey was horrified. thankfully the bathroom was clean. the cat was spooked

apparently also good for finding scorpions & rodent trails. think I'll get a cpl more for myself, for use in our basement, attic crawl spaces & our Mother's vacant house

A propos of not much, but rats are incontinent. They dribble worse than old men as they shuffle about.
Rat wee fluoresces under ultra violet light. You can track them with a UV source.
Rentokil rely on that for a lot of their business.

Another quasi useless fact is that flies are attracted by UV light. That's how those fly killers work.
Combined with the flies inquisitive nature the high voltage net is what does for them.

My facility in this area put my kids through collage and supported my modest life style.

Went to Lidl earlier today. Needed tomatoes among the other stuff. Went around the veggie isle twice. No tomatoes. None. Like zero. Not just zero but big fat zero. Not even a lonely tomato ghost. When I asked staff said "supply issues". Apparently it was the same yesterday already.
Went to small Tesco. A few packs of small vine tomatoes left. Woohoo, mission accomplished.
I can't live without tomatoes - they are like bread to me.

Mundane news Spain had poor weather which caused this.

I have already moved to BST by changing the clocks that need doing when I got home this afternoon. Still not summer conditions yet with frequent short, sharp showers on the journey home and the cold north westerly breeze.

In other news, I have booked for the event at Millennium Square as there was a cheap hotel deal available over the road from where I normally stay in Leeds. With the normal hotel, I could probably open the window and hear the band if the wind was in the right direction. The other band I was looking to see would have involved getting home from Leeds on Saturday and back out to Manchester for something else on Monday, so I'll catch them in Norwich instead.

I have 2 teapots but for reasons I can no longer remember I use the larger one yet only half fill it. Maybe it was something to do with how happily it pours out my 3 mugs of tea.

I recommend getting out more. A recognised cure for TDS. Teapot Dilemma Syndrome

I've been away and busy. The range of skills I've explored over the last 2 weeks has amazed me
I'm now exhausted and heading for respite

Respite is a wedding in Yorkshire. I did a tour in Yorkshire before we shipped out to our international adventures.
The bride is the daughter of my late cycling chum. Over the years he and I cycled various bits of the UK and Europe.
A sort of bittersweet event.
