Yes they have , the big difference from past missions is they are not on a course for lunar orbit. What they've done is to break the record for distance traveled based on planned flight path. Just like Apollo 13 they are set to do a big sling shot round the moon so are moving out to come back. They are on course to travel more than 270,000 miles. So will once they travel round the moon break Apollo 13's record (248,655 miles) . The difference this time it's planned and not due to an accident.

Good morning from a very dull, grey, breezy and occasionally damp Suffolk. It must be a public holiday given the weather.
Coffee has been had and absolutely nothing else has been done so far this morning despite being up and about earlyish. Must pop round to see mum to check everything is go for next week and then possibly give the grass a trim and give the front border a quick weeding.

Pity they are not doing a close orbit. Images of a lunar rover abandoned on the surface will shut the sceptics up.
Drizzly morning. Shopping definite needs were bread for toasting, oranges and bananas.
3 packs of yellow label scones however were also acquired from M&S.
Morrisons was the rare visit for the fruit as they had postie deliver a leaflet in the week with a couple of vouchers in it. £5 off £25 being used.
Seem to have got rid of the hand scanners so added up mentally as I went round. As usual chilled goods beyond their use date on the shelf which deterred a purchase.
Total just exceeded the voucher valid price by 18p.

Proving sceptics wrong is not part of the plan which is one big space race to beat China. The main focus is on the poles of moon and to control the water. which are miles away from past missions. So they are not likely to go wonder off to find evidence of them. Much of the talk is on having a base to supply and support the push to Mars. What come's next is the worry for me as the real prize is mining the earth metal deep in the moon. The whole ethics of what is coming is a big mine field. As with anything once money flys round it will be all in the hands of the few.
I realise that. But you can bet on a future mission when one is photoed the sceptics will claim it was dropped their by this one.
